Who I am and why
Let me introduce myself, my name is Monica the owner and crafter of this online store. The reason why I started this venture is two reasons. Before I get to those reasons, I want to share my back story. I began to sew at a young age with my grandmother. She was a seamstress back in Colombia and she would teach me and show me techniques on her old Singer machine. She would make me outfits and give me the scraps to make clothes for my Barbie dolls. Even if they were ok looking for a 6-7 year old girl. I loved sewing with my grandmother! Then my aunt would do crafting and she showed me somethings and I thought it was the best thing ever!
When I got older and married, I made pillows and some other items that were simple to make. Got my first sewing machine at the age of 20 when my husband was in the US Air Force so I can sew his patches (they were a pain by hand).
Later in life having kids, I made them handmade blankets and then I turned into quilting. I have made quilted items that I still have and given as gifts. I also made and still do a lot of crafting especially during the holidays. My grandmother used to make our Christmas wreathes and I still do to this day, fake ones or real ones. As for my aunt she inspired me to make floral arrangements.
My daughter inspired me to make candles a few months ago, we both love candles and I always wanted to do it but just shied away from it. We got a kit and my daughter and I love making them, She actually pushed me to make candles and start selling them. We do them together and we bonded closer then before. This is why I named the candles after her, she is my light and my inspiration to do something new.
My two inspirations are my grandmother and my aunt that gave me the passion to make things from nothing to something special.
My two reasons to start this online store is my love of crafting and sewing that reminds me of my late grandmother, my aunt and my daughter. The other reason I started this venture is that I wanted to show my love of crafting and have the opportunity to show my love and offer what I make (even if its not perfect...LOL). That's the beauty of handmade items they are not always perfect, not manufactured. These items are made with memories, love and passion.
I hope you join me on my journey and so I can share the love, memories and also the struggle of my little venture!
Remember, that mistakes are welcomed and can be learned. Open your mind and heart to new possibilities and accept criticism because that will make you stronger not weaker!
